Ameristar’s Convention Center Expansion Drives Regional Economic Development

Ameristar Casino’s latest meeting and convention center expansion is a prime example of the significant capital investments Missouri’s casinos make at their properties and in our state. The project triples its event space to 65,000 square feet, making it one of the largest meeting spaces in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The project was driven by a lack of availability to accommodate incoming booking requests.

The expanded space, including two ballrooms, will allow Ameristar to book several years out and host larger and more diverse events. The classy and versatile dark wood paneling and a muted color palette makes a backdrop for all types of events from weddings to trade shows. A major draw is having hotel rooms, dining, the casino, ample parking and the other casino activities at a single site.

This major upgrade is part of a comprehensive property-wide renovation by parent company Boyd Gaming that also included a complete renovation of all 397 hotel suites and the introduction of new dining concepts — such as the Charter 18 Modern Tavern gastropub and The Salted Lime Mexican restaurant — that enhance the guest experience.

By investing in their facilities, casinos not only create world-class entertainment destinations but also generate substantial economic benefits for Missouri in the form of construction jobs and employment opportunities. Furthermore, the increased business and tourism driven by these enhanced properties generate additional tax revenue that supports education and other essential services in our local communities.

“It’s going to be a phenomenal addition to the property,” said Doug Lang, the property’s senior vice president and general manager in a St. Louis Business Journal article. “This non-gaming piece of our business, new restaurants, new hotel, new convention space, is going to really help us.”

We look forward to seeing the positive impact this impressive new amenity will have on St. Charles and the entire state!
